Achievements / Results

  1. Culturally Sensitive Health Messaging:
    • Reached 12,199 individuals (4,927 women and 7,272 men) with culturally sensitive and community-specific health messages using Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) strategies.
    • Developed and distributed culturally relevant IEC materials to overcome vaccination barriers, generate immunization demand, and deliver inclusive health messages tailored to the local context.
  2. Community Engagement Initiatives:
    • Conducted mini-media engagement sessions, reaching a total of 6,467 students/girls through school events.
    • Established and supported 30 Yegna School Mini Media Clubs in 30 schools, involving 50 students per school. Trained 90 schoolteachers/facilitators to lead these clubs, reaching 1,404 students.
    • Implemented door-to-door community mobilization for out-of-school girls, reaching 891 girls.
    • Successfully reached 1,933 caregivers/parents through community sessions.
    • Engaged 3,752 people via community discussions through a champions app.
  3. Capacity Building:
    • Trained 30 Health Extension Workers (HEWs) and 30 community health workers to lead community engagement and mobilization efforts.

Impact Summery

The ACHIEVE Program successfully increased awareness and acceptance of vaccines in Erer, Warder, and Geladi Woredas through culturally sensitive Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) approaches.
