Achievements / Results

  1. Shelter and Non-Food Items (NFIs):
    • Distributed Emergency Shelter Kits (ES kits) and WASH NFIs to 1,500 households, enabling beneficiaries to construct shelters and enhance living conditions. Households with individuals with disabilities received specialized Disability and Inclusion NFI Kits.
  2. WASH Interventions:
    • Rehabilitation of Water Sources: Rehabilitated two nonfunctional hand-dug wells, restoring access to clean water for 1,000 flood-affected individuals.
    • Water Quality Monitoring: Regular monitoring and testing were conducted to ensure the safety of drinking water for the communities.
    • Capacity Building: Trained 14 WaSCHo members in water point management and operation, ensuring sustainable use and maintenance of rehabilitated water sources.
    • Improved Sanitation Facilities: Constructed five blocks of improved latrines (4 stances each), equipped with handwashing stations, benefiting 1,000 individuals.
    • Latrine Cleaning Kits: Distributed cleaning kits to maintain sanitation facilities.
    • WASH NFIs: Delivered essential hygiene items, including water containers, soap, and hygiene supplies, to 1,500 households, improving household hygiene practices

Impact

The program provided essential support to 1,500 displaced households (10,625 individuals), improving their access to shelter, household items, and WASH services. By rehabilitating water sources, constructing latrines, and distributing key hygiene and shelter items, the program reduced health risks and improved living conditions for vulnerable flood-affected populations. Beneficiaries also received critical support for shelter construction, hygiene education, and access to clean water, which significantly enhanced their resilience and dignity in the face of displacement. The capacity-building efforts, including training local water committees and hygiene promoters, will ensure long-term sustainability in the target communities.

PDM Survey Findings:

    • 99% were aware of the fair selection criteria.
    • 100% received the kits as planned.
    • 95% were satisfied with the quality of the items.
    • Over 99% reported regular handwashing practices.
    • 77% knew at least three critical times for handwashing.
    • 99% stored drinking water safely, using clean containers.
    • 99% regularly clean water containers.
    • 98% had knowledge of cholera prevention measures.
