Publications and Assessments

CAAP prioritizes evidence-based programming and decision-making, transparency, and knowledge sharing to drive impactful changes. Our publications and assessments provide valuable insights, research findings, and program evaluations that inform stakeholders, partners, and communities about our work, ensuring our programs remain effective, accountable, and aligned with community needs.

1. Research and Assessments

CAAP conducts in-depth assessments to analyze key challenges affecting women, children, and vulnerable communities in the Somali Region of Ethiopia. These studies help shape policy recommendations, program interventions, and advocacy efforts, ensuring that women, girls, and marginalized communities are at the center of our interventions.

  • Baseline and Needs Assessments – Identify gaps in gender equality, food security, health, education, and livelihoods.
  • Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM) Surveys – Conducted more than 15 PDM surveys to assess the impact and efficiency of food, Non-Food Items (NFIs), and cash distributions.
  • Baseline Assessment for the Resilience and Institutional Support to Empower Women (RISE) Project – Evaluates women’s economic empowerment and resilience-building initiatives in the Somali Region.
  • Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) Needs Assessments – Identifies barriers and opportunities for integrating climate resilience strategies into local farming practices.
  • Third-Party Monitoring – CAAP served as TPM between September 2022 and April 2023 conducting independent monitoring of WFP’s nutrition programs in the Somali Region, providing actionable recommendations to enhance program quality and accountability.
  • Program Evaluations such as Endline surveys, to measure the effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability of CAAP’s interventions.
  • Impact Studies: CAAP conducts success stories, lessons learned, and best practices from CAAP’s projects.
  • Gender and Protection Assessments – Analyze barriers to women’s empowerment and protection needs.
  • Gender Analysis: CAAP has extensive experience in conducting gender analysis, systematically examining the roles, opportunities, and constraints faced by men and women within their social, economic, and cultural contexts. This includes assessing gender disparities, power dynamics, and structural barriers that hinder women’s development. Through evidence-based research, CAAP identifies key entry points for interventions that address the root causes of gender inequality, ensuring that programs are designed to foster inclusive, equitable, and transformative change.

2. Policy Briefs and Reports

  • Thematic Reports – Focus on climate resilience, disaster response, gender-based violence (GBV), and safeguarding.
  • Policy Briefs – Advocacy documents that support evidence-based decision-making at local, national, and international levels.
