CAAP, convened a workshop in Jigjiga to validate and disseminate newly developed Gender-Responsive Climate Smart Agriculture videos and community guidance manuals. Developed in Somali language, these CSA tools are designed to strengthen gender-responsive agricultural extension services—equipping women farmers with practical knowledge and solutions to improve crop and livestock productivity while enhancing resilience to climate change. Held on October 30, 2025, at Hagar Lawe Hotel 2, Jigjiga, the workshop brought together representatives and technical experts from the Jigjiga University, Xafiiska Horumarinta Xoolo-dhaqatada DDS, Xafiiska Beeraha ee DDS, Mac-hadka Cilmi Baadhista Xoolaha iyo Beeraha ee DDS, Somali Regional State Seed Enterprise, UN Women EthiopiaCommunity In Action Against Poverty -CAAP. Participants reviewed and discussed the new CSA materials, shared recommendations for effective implementation, and commended CAAP and UN Women for introducing innovative, practical, and locally relevant resources that will enhance community resilience and promote sustainable agricultural growth across the Somali Region. The materials were developed through Alisom Agricultural Business Enterprise (AABE), a local consultancy firm based in Jigjiga.
